Eight Missouri students will take part in this year’s national spell checker.

In 39 days, eight 5th to 8th grade Missouri students will be participating in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. This year’s competition will include 209 spellers, all of whom are fighting for the coveted championship title. According to the bee, the spell checkers will virtually compete against each other in the first of three rounds on June 12th.

The semi-finals are scheduled for June 27th and the top 10 to 12 players will advance to the finals in person on July 8th at Walt Disney World. Missouri’s spelling wizard kids come from all over the state, including Poplar Bluff, Columbia, Rolla, St. Joseph, Kansas City, and St. Louis.
