Initiative Petition Bill Expected to Hit Missouri Senate Floor This Week

Look for petition legislation for initiatives due to enter the Missouri Senate in Jefferson City in the final two weeks of session, possibly this week.
Senate President Pro Tem Dave Schatz tells our Missourinet subsidiary KTUI that proposed constitutional changes should require more than a simple majority to pass. He supports a proposed constitutional amendment by Bonne Terre GOP Representative Mike Henderson that would require an amendment to the state constitution to get a two-thirds majority for passage. The Henderson Legislature received final House approval with 111-46 votes.
Democrats say Republicans are trying to ignore the will of voters.
